And that was the beginning of the game called Poohsticks, which Pooh invented, and which he and his friends used to play on the edge of the Forest. But they played with sticks instead of fir-cones, because they were easier to mark.

In the Winnie-the-Pooh books the game of Poohsticks is described.  It is an easy break to take on a hike.  To play, you need a bridge over a river and each contestant needs to find a distinctive stick. On “go” all contestants drop their sticks on the upriver side of the bridge, then race across the bridge to see whose stick emerges first.
